barred pregnant women and nursing mothers from
enlisting in the national service across the
country.
During a two-day pre-mobilisation workshop in
Kaduna, Director-General of the NYSC, Brig-Gen.
Johnson Olawumi, stated that the decision was
made to allow all youth corpers to undergo the
four cardinal programmes of the NYSC.
The four cardinal programmes include mobilisation,
orientation, primary assignment and winding-up
passing out parade, but most pregnant women
and nursing mothers are not able to go through
all the four stages.
Prospective NYSC member will only be allowed to
participate when they can effectively complete all
stages.
