What! I exclaimed as perspirations was plastered on my face.
“You heard me well, don’t you?”, he said with an as-a-matter-of-fact face.
My heart in shew of utter fury, beat against my chest, in such a manner as to rip open, the cardiac bone that camped my thoracic region.
“But what if I tell him that I don’t need him as much as I need his food, would that not be better?”, I thought to myself.
Lost in my thought, I heard a laughter, somewhat hysterical which is unmistakably Satan’s.
He said, “Young man, don’t try the mind game with me, see, you cannot be more deceitful than deceit. Do you think you can eat my delicacy without pleasing me? he said and began to walk away from where he was, moving to where I sat.

As he got near me, he stopped abruptly as our eyes locked in tight embrace.
“Don’t think I will take your soul from you, and give you just a mere delicacy in return”, he said.
“My friend, there is more to me, than you can comprehend. I WILL GIVE YOU EVERYTHING”, he said with such hoarse voice that could wake a dead man from his endless slumber.

Did I just hear him say everything? – I thought to myself.
The lightening of a thought flashed accross my cloudy heart, as I mused on the statement of this monster-turned-angel. I remembered my lovely mother who just died about two years ago and wondered if bringing her back to life will be part of the everything Satan promised.

Surprisingly, Satan said “Well it is part of it, my friend, you will have your mother back, and not just that but you will also have everything that turn boys to men”. Satan paused, then continued, “All of these will be given in exchange for your soul”, he said.
“Moreover, don’t think I’m going to own it forever, I mean no such thing. I only ask to use it for a time after which it will be yours again”, he added.
Streams of thoughts began to permeate my mind, as I sat weighing the juicy offer Satan gave me without having to sweat. What if he eventually did not bring my mother back to life after being in possesion of my soul? Can he be trusted with the possesion of such precious soul as mine? What if he refuse to give me back after taking it? – I thought.

As I sat there with a torned cogitation, I could see a shadow of a person on the glass dinning table in front of me. I looked up to catch the glimpse of who the person was and I was aghast on seeing before me my mother, with a smile capable of crippling one’s rein. I rushed at her in an attempt to embrace her, but was stopped by Satan who told me that it will only be possible after his request must have been granted.
Without thinking twice, I made a resolve to tell Satan to have my soul if that at least will bring back the happiness that had long been lost from my life.
“Come have my soul and give me my mother”, I said as I struggled to give her a tight embrace only to feel the thundering of a hot slap on my cheek.
“You this ogbanje boy, you have been day dreaming all the while”, Uncle shouted.
